BAPTISM
Your public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ

BAPTISM DEFINED
Baptism is a public announcement that says, “I have decided to follow Jesus with all I’ve got.” But there’s even more to it than that. You see, baptism is how we can personally identify with Jesus and remember the work He did for us on the cross.
What does that mean? Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection is symbolized in our moment of baptism. We’re saying, “I’m no longer living for myself. I’m dying to my old ways, my former life is gone.”
Our immersion in water parallels His time in the tomb. It was the greatest moment of suspense because it confirmed His death on the cross really happened. So our time underwater confirms our death to our former way of living.
But then the most amazing thing happens... When we come out of the water, it’s our public proclamation that we are now ALIVE IN CHRIST. Because He didn’t stay in the tomb, we don’t have to settle for anything less in this life. Our eternal hope is found in HIM!
So through baptism, we remember not just who we were, but who He’s called us to be FORWARD. THIS is baptism. And THIS is our new life in CHRIST!
